*Tryouts are free….must pay the Spring Sports fee ($200) to play once the team is selected.
*Team competition consists of 6 golfers. I am hoping to keep 8-10 so help yourself out by getting a lesson, hitting at a driving range or simulator, practice putting and chipping.
*We practice at Jackson Park GC and the Nile GC.
Example of a typical week of practice:
*Monday and Tuesday, practice at Nile Golf Course. Try to get 9 holes in, but often only get 6. Tee times vary.
*Wed and Thursday, practice at Jackson Park Golf Course. Try to play 9, but often get less. Tee times vary.
*Friday, driving range and putting work at Jackson Park. Usually finished between 4:30 and 5:00.
*Athletes are responsible for their own transportation throughout the season.
NEEDS:
- Clubs (especially putter and wedge(s))
- Shoes
- Golf Balls
*SC Supplies Team Bag, Team Shirts/jackets, some golf balls and lots of laughs.
What will help you make the team:
- Skill in all facets of the game.
- Knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golf.
- Ability to keep accurate score; both for you and opponents.
- Attitude
- Sportsmanship
- Team Player - though golf is an individual sport, SC has a Golf TEAM and we work as 1.
- Willingness to learn and be coached.
- Commitment for the season
- Good Grades and ability to keep up on schoolwork while committing to the Team practices, matches and tournaments.
- No Disciplinary issues.
